Welcome to the Islands chapter of the BC Youth Council!
This year, IBCYC members have been involved in several initiatives and service projects, including the Mental Health Advocacy Program, #Vote16BC, and Islands regional service projects. IBCYC aims to set up five workshops throughout the region to raise awareness and accessibility to mental health resources and place emphasis on self-care among the youth of the Islands. It also is involved in #Vote16BC, where IBCYC members have met with several community organizations, local government officials, and MLAs in order to lower the voting age in municipal and provincial elections to 16.
In order to reach these goals, IBCYC members have met with city councilors, school trustees, and Hon. Yonah Martin, a British Columbian Senator, to discuss youth mental health and youth engagement in our communities.
