Simon Larocque
Chair of the Southern Interior
Simon joined the BCYC earlier this year with the purpose of providing a place for youth to meet one another and get involved in their community. As the first ever Chair of the Southern Interior, Simon is working hard to build up the member population within his area and create a solid foundation for the BCYC. He currently lives in Castlegar and is graduating from Stanley Humphries Secondary School as the President of the Student Council and Valedictorian of his grad class. Some of Simon's hobbies include biking, organizing events with his friends, longboarding and shredding powder at the ski hill.

This is the newest region of the BC Youth Council and it is slowly building up to become a place for youth to learn and get involved with their community! This year, the main goal for the Southern Interior is to grow member population. After obtaining a healthy amount of members SIBCYC are looking towards getting more involved in the BCYC Environmental and Mental Health campaigns, as well as running events throughout Southern Interior communities like going on hikes, picking up garbage, and more! SIBCYC will be reaching out to Dogwood, local City Council members, School Principals, and active community members to make as much of a positive impact as possible!
