Chair of the Southern Interior
Welcome to the Lower Mainland chapter of the BC Youth Council! The Lower Mainland is the largest region of the BC Youth Council and is focused on empowering youth through politics and promoting youth engagement.
This year, LMBCYC members have been involved in several initiatives and service projects, including the Mental Health Advocacy Program, #Vote16BC, and Lower Mainland regional service projects. LMBCYC aims to set up five workshops throughout the region to raise awareness and accessibility to mental health resources and place emphasis on self-care among the youth of the Lower Mainland. It also is involved in #Vote16BC, where LMBCYC members have met with several community organizations, local government officials, and MLAs in order to lower the voting age in municipal and provincial elections to 16.
In order to reach these goals, LMBCYC members have met with city councilors, school trustees, and Hon. Yonah Martin, a British Columbian Senator, to discuss youth mental health and youth engagement in our communities.
